Campaign Story
My name is Lynette, and I’m a 36-year-old woman with a deep desire to have a child—whether through pregnancy with close medical monitoring or via surrogacy. I am applying for a grant to help fund the costs of embryo freezing as part of a carefully considered and medically advised fertility preservation plan.
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with coronary aneurysms, a rare and serious cardiovascular condition. As a result, I am on a specialized medication regimen and require a higher level of care for any future pregnancy. When I first began exploring fertility preservation, one reproductive specialist discouraged me entirely—advising I would only be able to pursue parenthood through adoption. Though devastating to hear, I sought second opinions. Thankfully, subsequent fertility experts and my cardiologist affirmed that while a traditional labor and delivery might present risks, egg and embryo freezing are medically appropriate, and with intensive monitoring, pregnancy is not out of the question.
Given the complexity of my condition, I’ve chosen to work with a reproductive center that is affiliated with a major hospital system to ensure continuous, integrated care. However, my insurance provides no coverage for fertility treatment, and I am already managing prior medical debt, student loans, and ongoing healthcare expenses. Every scan, blood draw, and consultation adds to a financial burden that weighs heavily—especially as time is not on my side when it comes to preserving fertility.
Despite these challenges, I remain committed and hopeful. I am pursuing this path now because I want to preserve the possibility of becoming a mother—whether by carrying a child with close supervision or through surrogacy, both of which are financially daunting but emotionally invaluable. A grant would not only alleviate the immediate costs of embryo freezing but also represent a critical investment in my future and in the safety of any potential pregnancy.
I’m someone who has fought to advocate for my health, sought out the best and safest care possible, and continued to hope in the face of uncertainty. I would be profoundly grateful for any assistance in helping preserve my chance at motherhood.
Thank you for your consideration.
